8. What do the narrator want and what are some obstacles that stand in the way of her getting what she wants?
The narrator wants to start this new and improved life full of opportunities yet her old life (friends and family) stand in the way as they want her to be complacent and be in the same boat as they are in.
9. Describe some possible images in the play and how does the title help us understand the play.
The garden in the play is an essential piece as it refers to to the flowers of Kali's mom which is placed in a garden. The title "Queen's Garden" gives us insight into this by allowing us to understand it's significance. One of the significant moments being her love life "blossomed" (pun intended) in the garden.
10. Briefly define the family relationships that are examined in the play.
The ideal of blood-bound family and relationship-bound family are both examined in this work. Brenda's relationship with her family was a bumpy road whereas the bond between the Westsiders are very real as well although much betrayal occurs within this grouping. At the end of the day, Brenda is able to still go back to her family because that's what she holds dearest to her heart.
